Nigerian passport holders need a visa before they travel to the United Arab Emirates. There is no visa on arrival for an ordinary Nigerian passport, so the visa is issued electronically before you fly, through a UAE airline, a licensed hotel or an authorised travel agency such as Win Sky Travels.

Which visa do you need?

For a holiday, family visit or shopping trip, you need a single-entry tourist visa. Dubai's immigration authority (GDRFA) lists two common options:

  • 30 days: AED 200 government fee, plus 5% VAT
  • 60 days: AED 300 government fee, plus 5% VAT

Agencies and online platforms add their own service charge on top, so always ask for the full price before you pay.

Documents to prepare

  • A passport with at least six months of validity left
  • A recent colour passport photo on a white background
  • A return or onward flight booking
  • A hotel booking or your host's address in the UAE
  • Travel medical insurance for your stay

Make sure every detail matches your passport exactly. A spelling mistake is one of the most common reasons for a delay.

Extra conditions for Nigerian travellers

In July 2025, Nigerian media reported new UAE conditions for Nigerian applicants: transit visas were no longer processed, applicants aged 18 to 45 travelling alone were not eligible for a tourist visa, and applicants aged 45 and over were asked for a six-month Nigerian bank statement with a month-end balance of at least USD 10,000 or the naira equivalent.

These rules can change without much notice. Before you pay for flights, we check the current requirements for your age, travel group and dates, so you know exactly where you stand.

How long does it take?

GDRFA estimates around 48 hours for a single-entry tourist visa once the application is complete. Busy periods such as Eid, December holidays and school breaks can take longer, so apply at least two weeks before you travel.

Good to know

  • A visa allows you to travel, but the final decision is made at check-in and at the border, so carry printed copies of your visa, hotel booking and return ticket.
  • A tourist visa does not allow you to work in the UAE.
  • Only use a licensed agency or an official channel. Never send your passport details or money to an unverified "visa agent".
