Good to know

Practical answers before you travel to Zanzibar.

What money do we use?
The Tanzanian shilling, though US dollars are widely accepted for tours and hotels.
What should we wear in Stone Town?
Zanzibar is mostly Muslim, so cover shoulders and knees in town. Beachwear is fine at resorts.
Which beach is best for children?
The north coast, around Nungwi and Kendwa, where the tide changes less and the water stays swimmable.
How do we get around?
We arrange all transfers and boat trips. Distances are short, so most drives take under two hours.
Is the food halal?
Much of it is. Swahili cooking is full of seafood, rice and spices, and we can point you to halal spots.
